We understand that the world is changing… fast. As Baby Boomers set to retire, some 70 million Millennials are quickly lining up to work with Gen X to redefine the way the world of business is understood and managed.
The Shift
The core values at the center of the business equation are rapidly changing. A 2.0 management agenda is not far away. Many companies, however, remain wedded to Management 1.0 practices and commitments, in hopes that after the recession things will return to normal.
Our ten years of research and consulting tell us that this is not going to happen. This time around things are fundamentally different. What started out as a problem (i.e. the recession), is turning out to be an enormous opportunity for management to rethink core assumptions.
Two generations of management commitments- in the form of expensive real estate holdings, scores of full-time employees working on tasks (vs. projects), copy cat recruiting and development practices, and top-down communication strategies- are proving to be both costly and ineffectual in the new values environment.
We strongly believe that only those companies that acknowledge and accept that we are undergoing a profound shift in values and goals, within the ranks of both employees and customers, will be in a position to offer relevant and compelling value propositions in the future.
SHIFT helps firms navigate this transition.
